Interior Design: Step 2 of the process
So we've met and both can't wait to start this amazing project together. All your goals, needs and requirements were discussed in STEP 1: Interview & Initial Consult. We've visited the project site and reviewed the existing conditions. We give you a proposal of our design fee (**every project will be different):
We now come back and take as-build measurements of what is currently there. This typically takes a full day (based on the square footage). A set of as-built plans are created and a copy is given to the client. These are simple floor plans and exterior elevations – a minimal set showing what currently exists on site and nothing more.
An engineer & surveyor are typically contacted at this stage and scheduled. An engineer will verify, 'Yes, we can remove that wall' or provide drawings, for such things like a support beam. Surveyors will produce a site survey – this survey is eventually incorporated into the as-built documents. We gather information from the city regarding specific building code requirements as well as pre-submittal and pre-permit procedures.
We also create a work plan to outline what will be done with a timeline. And a signed agreement will take place during Step 2.
